Description
The Old Vicarage is a vicarage, now a house, built in the early 18th century with later alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was designed and constructed for Sir Thomas Parkyns of Bunny Hall. The building features red brick with some ashlar and has a slate roof. It has two gable and a single ridge red brick stacks, with dentil eaves and is set on a plinth. The structure is two and a half storeys tall with four bays.
The entrance includes a Serliana doorway that has been partially blocked, now featuring a single two-light casement, a blind fanlight, and a keystone above. Flanking the doorway are single glazing bar marginal lights. To the right of the entrance is a small fixed light, and further right and left are tripartite cross casements with flush wedge lintels and keystones. Above, there are three similar windows and lintels. On the top floor, there are three tripartite casements with similar lintels.
The right gable wall has a single early 18th-century two-light ashlar mullion fixed light on the ground floor, with the remains of a similar opening in the left gable wall on the first floor. Sir Thomas Parkyns Bart. (circa 1662-1741) made significant improvements and rebuilt much of Bunny according to his own designs.
