Description

The model farm buildings at Top Farm were constructed in 1837 and consist of a model stable range and adjoining stables. They are built from brick and feature a combination of gabled, hipped, and lean-to pantile roofs. The buildings have chamfered eaves, brick coped gables with kneelers, and ball finials. There is a single side wall stack, and the structure is arranged in a square plan with a central yard, consisting of one, two, and three storeys and four bays wide.

The front facing Town Street includes an off-centre tower with three stages, flanked by single-storey wings. The tower features a four-centred arched door with a hood mould, above which is a mullioned casement, followed by a smaller casement. At the top, there is a square brick bell turret with four chamfered openings and an ogee leaded dome. The right wing has two plain casements and a door in the return angle.

On the Main Street front, to the left, there is a cartshed with two bays supported by timber posts. To the right, a two-storey stable has an elliptical-headed carriage doorway, a door with a segmental head, and a casement. Above this, there is a datestone inscribed '1837' and to the right, a square hatch. The adjoining single-storey stables to the southeast feature a plain casement and a door.
