Description

This is a former shop and five houses, later converted into six houses, dating from approximately 1830. The building exhibits late 20th-century alterations. Constructed primarily of brick, it features stone and stucco dressings and pantile roofing. Architectural details include a first-floor band, rebated eaves, a gable band, and five ridge stacks plus two gable stacks. The front doors are beaded 6-panel doors with overlights and Gothic arched scrapers.

The building has two storeys plus garrets, with an eight-window range of glazing bar sashes, each with a multi-keystone lintel. A square-headed entry with an overlight is present below, marked with a plate inscribed "Pettefars Yard" above it. To the left of this entry is a doorway and a glazing bar sash. To the right are four doors and windows, all with multi-keystone lintels. Number 28 has two windows, the right-hand one lacking a lintel, and a renewed corner doorway.

The right gable, facing Queen Street, has two segment-headed windows that are boarded up, with a smaller 20th-century casement and a boarded-up window above. Ground-floor openings on this gable include a boarded-up shop window to the left and a segment-headed window to the right, both also boarded up.
