Description
The Former King's Arms Public House is a building located on King Street in Newark on Trent, dating from around 1800. Originally a public house and shop, it has been converted into two houses. The structure is made of brick with stone dressings and features a pantile roof with a single ridge stack.
The front of the building has openings with multi keystoned lintels. It is two storeys high, plus garrets, and has a three-window range. To the right, there is a glazing bar sash window, while the left side has two 20th-century imitation sash windows. Below these, there are two imitation sashes, with a 20th-century door and overlight to the left. The right side features a late 19th-century wooden shopfront with a plain surround and cornice, which includes a three-light cross mullioned window and a half-glazed door with an overlight and pointed headed scraper. The left gable has a small glazing bar sash window in the garret and a 20th-century imitation sash window below it, both of which have segmental heads.
