Description
The former workshops at the former House of Correction, now used as a store, are possibly part of the additions made in 1817. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof that retains the remains of a central ventilator. It stands three storeys high and has a five-window range. On either side, there are five square openings with lintels, and above these are five semicircular windows, all fitted with iron glazing bar lights.
On the southeast side, there is a 20th-century lean-to shed, while the northwest side has five square windows. The northeast gable features a central loading door flanked by larger altered windows, all with plain lintels, and above this is a hoist beam. Below, there are two 20th-century doors. The ivy-clad southwest gable has a glazing bar sash window to the right and above it, a central two-light casement. Below, there are two glazing bar sash windows.
