Description
The Coach House at The Chestnuts is a garage and outbuildings that were formerly a coach house and stables, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with ashlar sills and keystones, featuring an elaborate brick coped shaped gable and a Welsh slate roof with lead hips. The building has a two-storey central bay flanked by two single-storey lean-tos. The central opening is an elliptical arched rebated design with a keystone and double close-boarded doors. To the north, there is a round-headed rebated doorway with a close-boarded door, and to the south, there are 20th-century double leaf garage doors set in an altered opening. Above the central bay, there is a single 19th-century Y tracery leaded light with a round head. Attached to the south is a 19th-century toilet block, built of brick with a Welsh slate roof, which features a shaped brick coped gable with a blank semicircular panel. This building is included for its group value only.
