Description

Lime Tree House is a house dating from the 17th century with 18th-century additions. It is constructed of brick and features a steeply pitched patterned plain tile roof, a first-floor brick band, a brick plinth, and tumbled brick coped gables, along with a single ridge and two gable stacks. The building has two storeys plus garrets and is designed in an L-shape.

The east front consists of three bays, with three Yorkshire sash windows on the upper floor and a central 17th-century fixed light flanked by two Yorkshire sashes on the ground floor, all featuring segmental heads. The north front has two bays with two 19th-century Yorkshire sashes, one in the gable with a segmental head, and above them, there are two similar Yorkshire sashes and a single 19th-century leaded fixed light.

The 18th-century east addition is made of brick with a pantile roof, a rendered plinth, and two brick bands, featuring moulded eaves. This addition has two bays and includes a two-light Yorkshire sash and a single two-light casement on the ground floor, with a two-light Yorkshire sash and a two-light casement above. A 19th-century outbuilding is present, which has a panelled door.

The rear elevation displays irregular fenestration and includes a 19th-century gabled brick porch. Inside, the house features 18th-century doors and fireplaces with oak bressummers. The garrets have gypsum floors and wattle partitions, while the roof structure includes halved and pegged rafters that are tenoned into the purlins.
