Description
No. 37 High Street is a pair of cottages built in 1744 and the 18th century, with 19th-century alterations. The cottages are constructed of brick and feature a steeply pitched pantile roof with two gable stacks. They are one and a half to two storeys high and consist of four bays.
The south range has paired central 19th-century close boarded doors with a common timber lintel. To the south, there is a 19th-century margin pane sash window with a segmental head, and to the north, there is a single fixed light window in a modified segmental head. Above these, there are two dormers, each with a single Yorkshire sash window.
The two-storey range to the north has an off-centre 20th-century glazed door, flanked by single 19th-century shop windows. Above this, there are two plain sash windows. The north gable features a 19th-century shop window, with a single plain sash window above it.
At the rear, there is a lean-to extension. The rear elevation and interiors retain significant elements of timber framing.
