Description

This is a house and former cottages, originally built in the mid-17th century, with later additions and alterations in the late 18th and mid-19th centuries, and again in the late 20th century. The main part of the building is timber-framed with a brick underbuild and rendered infill, topped with a hipped and gabled pantile roof. A brick wing and the former cottages were added later, roofed with slate and pantile. The building has ridge and gable stacks and a partial plinth at the front. The front of the house has two windows on each floor, featuring plain sash windows. A 19th-century half-glazed door is positioned off-centre, flanked to the left by a 20th-century window and to the right by a 19th-century six-pane shop window. A 17th-century two-light unglazed window is on the left end. The former cottages, also two stories high, have three windows. Inside, the house features a central jowled bay post and arch brace facing the street, an altered dogleg staircase, a stud partition, and chamfered span beams. A small, early 19th-century hob grate is also present.
