Description

The Robin Hood Hotel and Systems 80 Double glazing is a complex building comprising three houses and a public house, now an hotel and shop. It dates to the early 18th century, with subsequent additions and alterations in the late 18th century, the early and mid-19th century, and into the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The construction is a mix of colourwashed brick and render, with slate and concrete tile roofs.

The early 18th-century central block has a steep-pitched slate roof with a single ridge stack. It features a plinth, first floor band, gutter brackets, and a single coped gable. The facade has two storeys and a 5-window range of 12-pane sashes, with four plain sashes below.

A late 18th-century block to the right features a first floor band and dentillated eaves. It has two storeys and a 3-window range of segment-headed 12-pane sashes. A prominent central doorcase from the early 19th century is constructed of Ionic stucco and is flanked by single segment-headed plain sashes.

A late 19th-century addition is located to the right again, built of colourwashed brick with stone dressings, featuring a first floor band, eaves cornice, a parapet, and a side wall stack. It has segment-headed plain sashes, those to the ground floor with keystones, and two storeys. An angled corner presents three windows on each floor.

The right return has eight windows, with the three to the left being smaller. A mid-18th-century block displays an incomplete first floor band, an eaves band, cogged and dentillated eaves, and a single gable stack. It has two storeys and a 3-window range of segment-headed 12-pane sashes.

A late 20th-century shopfront is situated to the left of this block, alongside a segment-headed plain sash. To the left again is a mid-19th-century addition comprised of three blocks. It features stucco dressings, chamfered quoins, a first floor band, and two side wall stacks. Two of the blocks have parapets. One block is single-storey with a pair of carriage doors flanked to the right by two plain sashes. Another has a moulded eaves and a hipped roof with a hipped clerestorey; it features a 3-window range of 20th-century single-pane windows and a 20th-century door to the right.

The interior was refitted in the mid- and late-20th century. A portion of the building was formerly listed as 3 Lombard Street.
