Description
The Mail Coach Public House is a public house located on London Road in Newark on Trent. It dates from the late 18th century and features mid-19th century alterations and additions, with restoration completed in 1989. The building is constructed of brick with a colourwashed stucco front and has pantile roofs. It has a plinth, a wooden gutter supported by brackets, coped gables, and two gable stacks.
The front of the building has glazing bar sash windows with segmental heads and is designed in a U-shape around a rear yard. It stands two storeys tall plus attics and has a five-window range. Above the main windows, there are three segment-headed dormers. The central entrance features a segment-headed opening with a two-leaf fielded panelled door and sidelights, topped with graduated round lights. The right gable includes a blocked garret window. The right rear wing is two storeys high with a four-window range, featuring a colourwashed ground floor and a coped gable.
