Description
This building, located at 8, 8A, and 8B Lombard Street in Newark on Trent, is a house that has been converted into a cycle shop and flats. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone additions and alterations in the mid-19th century and 20th century. The structure is built of brick with a colourwashed stucco front and features hipped and gabled pantile roofs. Notable architectural details include moulded brick dentilled eaves, coped gables, and two gable stacks.
The building has three storeys and a two-window range of plain sashes. Above this, there are two smaller glazing bar sashes. On the ground floor, there is a late 19th-century pilastered corner shopfront with a recessed glazed door at the angle, a continuous corniced fascia, and plate glass windows and door, all with toplights. On the left side, facing Saracen's Head Yard, there is a three-light casement window to the left and a segment-headed glazing bar sash to the right. Below these, to the left, there is a 20th-century window and door, and to the right, a continuation of the shopfront with three windows.
