Description
28 and 30 Castlegate are two houses, now vacant, built around 1760 with early 19th century alterations. They are constructed of brick and topped with a concrete pantile roof. The buildings feature a first floor band, dentillated eaves, a single coped gable, and both a single gable and a single ridge stack. The houses are two storeys plus attics and have a four-window range of glazing bar sashes with lintels. Above, to the right, there is a single raking dormer with a two-light Yorkshire sash. Below, to the left, is an early 19th century reeded wooden doorcase with curved brackets supporting a flat hood. This is accompanied by a fielded six-panel door with an overlight, flanked by single segment-headed glazing bar sashes. To the left, there is a chamfered segment-headed entry. To the right, there is a similar doorcase with a fanlight, and beyond it, a segment-headed glazing bar sash. The left gable features a two-light casement in the attic.
