Description

The railway viaduct in Mansfield was constructed in 1875 for the Midland Railway Company and underwent restoration in the late 20th century. It features brick arches that are faced with rock-faced ashlar and include ashlar dressings. The structure has a string course and flat coping, which has been patched with concrete. There are 13 round arches arranged on a slight curve, with the arches spanning Market Street and Church Street showcasing pointed voussoirs and flanking pilaster buttresses. At the southwest end, there is a similar buttress.
