Description

The Boer War Memorial is made of sandstone and features an urn that is intricately carved with reliefs of goats’ heads and grapes. This urn is positioned on a square pedestal that has a splayed base. The inscription on the pedestal states: "THIS MONUMENT ERECTED BY VERE VISCOUNTESS GALWAY IN HONOUR AND LOVING MEMORY OF THOSE OF THE SHERWOOD RANGERS 10TH COMPANY 3RD BATTALION IMPERIAL YEOMANRY WHO FELL IN SOUTH AFRICA 1900-1902," listing 15 names.
