Description

The gateway to the churchyard of the Church of St Oswald is located 24 metres west of the tower. It was built in the mid-19th century and is made of ashlar stone and iron. The gateway features a central small double iron gate, which is flanked by single engaged columns that possibly have 14th-century foliate decorated capitals. These columns support an ashlar overthrow with a hood mould and a central cross. The structure has single ashlar walls extending for one and a half metres, which slope down from the columns and are set on plinths. This gateway is included in the listing for its group value.
