Description

Shrubbery Lodge is a lodge built around 1860, constructed of ashlar stone with slightly projecting quoins. It features a decorated tiled roof with four pairs of Tudor-style ashlar chimney stacks and decorative barge boards, each adorned with a single finial and pendant. The building is set on a plinth and has two storeys with three bays.

The central bay projects on the first floor and is supported by cast iron columns of the arcaded porch, which has a single segmental central arch flanked by pointed arches. Above the porch is a cast iron modillion cornice. The central doorway has a panelled door with a chamfered stone surround, flanked by projecting windows that each feature tripartite stone transoms and mullion glazing bar casements.

On the first floor, there are three similar, smaller casements, with the central one having a Tudor-style hood mould. The outer two windows break into the eaves and are gabled, featuring barge boards, finials, and pendants. Each gable has a single similar bay and a single similar casement above. The rear of the building corresponds to the front, but the door is double and partly glazed with glazing bars. All windows have stone surrounds, and those on the first floor are highlighted with feature voussoirs.
