Description

This milestone, located 40 metres north-west of Jockey House, is likely a former gate pier and dates from the 18th century, specifically around 176?. It is constructed from ashlar and stands one and three-quarter metres high, featuring a shallow pyramidal-shaped coping. The front of the milestone is inscribed with "Coach Road to Worksop Manor House 7 miles 3 qrs 176?". The left or west side bears the inscription "From London 142 miles and a half", while the right side reads "The keys at the Jockey House".
