Description
Lavin's Cottage and the adjoining outbuilding, which was formerly a public house, date from the mid 18th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble with a pantile roof and feature two gable and one ridge red brick stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has nine bays, with the gable end facing the road.
From right to left, the front elevation includes a single Yorkshire sash window, a doorway with a part glazed door, two glazing bar Yorkshire sash windows, another doorway with a part glazed door, a single glazing bar casement window, a part blocked opening, a single Yorkshire sash window, and a doorway with a stable door. Above these, there is a single window opening, a small glazing bar casement, and two three-light glazing bar Yorkshire sash windows. A single slit ventilator is located between the two floors.
On the right gable facing the road, there is a single Yorkshire sash window on each floor. The left gable features three rows of perches and pigeon holes. The building is included for its group value only.
