Description
Carlton Mill Bridge and overshoot is a bridge, overshoot, and footbridge dated to around 1830, with alterations made in the early and late 20th century, around 1980. It is constructed from dressed coursed rubble, ashlar, concrete, and iron. The overshoot features two stepped dressed coursed rubble and render walls that flank the weir, topped by a concrete footbridge supported by three concrete piers on each side, with iron railings. Attached to this is the early 20th-century ashlar parapet of the double-arched bridge. The arches are set within a slightly recessed panel that is inscribed "CB183?" and has a band running above it. There is a single central cutwater. This structure is included for its group value only.
