Description
Old Court is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with early and late 19th century alterations and additions. It features a timber frame with white and red brick cladding and a pantile roof, topped with a single ridge stack. The building is a single storey plus attic and has a three-bay, lobby-entry plan.
On the west elevation, there is an off-centre plank door, to the left of which is a three-light glazing bar sliding sash, and to the right, another three-light sliding sash, followed by a two-light glazing bar sliding sash. Above this, there is a central gabled brick dormer with a two-light glazing bar sliding sash. The north front has a single plank door to the left and a two-light casement to the right, above a small two-light casement. The east elevation includes a single-storey lean-to extension.
Inside, the cottage has exposed spine beams and rafters, with timber-framed mud and stud partition walls. It features plank doors and an inglenook fireplace that has been filled by a range. Some outer walls display posts and arched braces. A wooden staircase leads to the attics, where the collar roof is partly exposed.
