Description

Owmby Mount is a small country house built around 1840. It features yellow brick with ashlar dressings and has a hipped slate roof with lead dressings, along with two wall stacks and rendered sides. The house is two storeys tall and includes a first-floor stone band, a deeply overhanging cornice, and a brick parapet with stone coping that conceals the roof.

The front of the house has five bays, with the central bay slightly recessed. The entrance is marked by a central six-panelled raised and fielded door, which has a Chinese traceried overlight in panelled reveals and a surround with a Corinthian porch supported by pilasters and circular columns, accessed by five steps. There is a full entablature with a dentillated cornice above the door. On either side of the entrance are two deep glazing bar sash windows with all-round borders and heavily carved console brackets supporting deep cornices above them. The five first-floor windows are also glazing bar sashes, set on the first-floor band and featuring slightly plainer moulded console brackets for their cornices.

Inside, the house has moulded cornices and panelled doors, along with two contemporary fireplaces. At the rear, there is a lower two-storey wing that has a hip roof and a tall chimney stack, rendered, with two segmental-headed windows on the first floor.
