TF 29 NW THORGANBY THORGANBY HALL LANE (West side)

5/64 Thorganby Hall 1.11.66. II

Small country house. 1648, early C19. Limestone ashlar, some red brick, hipped slate roof with large central ridge stack and 2 projecting stacks on each return wall. 2 storey 5 bay front with C17 plan and C19 casing with first floor band. Outer bays project with small rectangular projecting bays in re-entrant angles with round headed archways in exposed projecting walls and single glazing bar sashes behind. Central 3 light window with plain sash flanked by fixed lights. Outer bays have single windows of similar design with similar windows above. Single glazing bar sashes above arches in re-entrant angle blocks, those facing inwards, east and west are blocked. Single 3 light window with plain sash flanked by fixed lights in central bay at first floor level. East return has chevron moulded eaves and central C17 doorway with moulded four centred head, moulded jambs and C20 panelled door. Datestone inscribed 1648 above. Projecting stacks flank doorway with single glazing bar sashes beyond. Early C19 round headed staircase window above door flanked by blocked rectangular openings, with similar blocked openings beyond stacks. Red brick with ashlar dressings on rear facade. Lower C19 additions set back to left of south front. Interior much altered in early C19 although most of C17 walls intact.
