Description

Fulbeck House is a small country house built around 1700, with later alterations and additions from the late 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof with lead dressings and two moulded ridge stacks. Originally designed as a simple box plan, it includes a left-hand wing added in the late 18th century and a right-hand block from around 1850, which has a canted bay window.

The main east front consists of five bays and two storeys plus attics. It has a first-floor band, a moulded and dentillated eaves course, and rusticated quoins. The central entrance features a half-glazed 18th-century door set in a moulded surround with a frieze and a distinctive segmental pedimented head adorned with oversized modillions. This pediment is made from the same yellowish limestone as the mid-19th-century addition to the right, suggesting it was likely added around that time. To the left of the door, there is a pair of original sash windows with thicker glazing bars than the others, and two additional sash windows to the right. The five first-floor windows are similar, all having moulded eared surrounds. The roof includes a balanced pair of pedimented glazing bar sash dormers.

Inside, the house has undergone significant alterations, with two round-backed fireplaces in the principal rooms being the only remaining early features.
