Description
Allington Hall is a small country house that dates from the late 17th century, with alterations made around 1727, 1875, and in the 20th century. The building features coursed rubble ironstone with ashlar dressings, rendering, and slate roofs that have coped gables, stone coped gable stacks, and a single stone coped ridge stack. It is two storeys high with four irregular bays.
The south-west front, which is from the 17th century, has been altered in 1875 and includes a central doorway with a stone lintel, a rectangular over-light, and a partially glazed door. To the south-east, there is a 19th-century quoined rectangular projection that has two 4-light mullion and transom windows side by side. On the north-west side, there is a 19th-century lean-to that features two 3-light mullion windows side by side, along with a doorway that has a 4-centred arch and a rectangular head at its south-east end. Above this lean-to are three plain sashed windows on the north-west side, with a vertical line of quoins to the south-east and a narrower, taller plain sash window beyond. All windows have ashlar dressings.
To the south of the house, there is a low projecting wing from the 17th century that is two storeys high and has two bays, featuring 19th-century fenestration. The south-west front showcases two long 17th-century windows with moulded architraves and ornate cartouches, along with two plain sashed windows above them from the 19th century. The north-east side, which dates from the 18th century, has been reduced to two storeys, heavily rendered, and has irregular 20th-century fenestration. A 17th-century rectangular projecting doorway has been re-set towards the north-west and features a 3-centred moulded head with a raised keystone and a panelled door.
