Description
Plum Tree House is a house that dates from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and red brick, topped with a pantile roof featuring a single brick gable stack and a single brick central ridge stack. The building has an L-shaped plan with a gabled cross wing to the south and is two storeys high with a garret above the three-bay north range.
The north range features a rubble plinth and a blocked central doorway that has a 17th-century moulded stone lintel, with a sliding sash window inserted beneath it. There is a single sliding sash window on the north side, and to the south, there is a narrow late 18th-century plank door with a sliding sash window beyond it. All ground floor openings have segmental heads, and there are three sliding sash windows on the upper floor. The north return and gable are made of red brick. The cross wing has an early 19th-century inserted plank door with a sliding sash window to the north, and above it, there is a four-light stone mullion window with a moulded cornice.
