Description

This is a small country house dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed of deep gold ironstone, dressed with paler gold ironstone, and has grey pantile double ridge roofs surmounted by ornate Dutch gables with scrolled volutes. Two large ashlar ridge stacks with pronounced coping are also present.

The two-storey and garret house features a projecting west front with a plinth, moulded cornices at both the first floor level and the eaves, and quoins. The central doorway has a moulded, shouldered doorcase and a pronounced keystone, although the original pediment is missing. The doorway is flanked by three windows on each side, with seven windows above, all featuring stone cross mullion windows.

The east return has an irregular pattern of windows, including a two-light mullion basement window beneath the plinth to the south, a three-light mullion window above it, a cross mullion window beyond, and a two-light mullion window in the gable. A similar range of windows is found under the north gable. The south front has five irregular bays with a central doorway featuring a moulded four-centred arch under a rectangular head and a plain plank door. To the east of the doorway are two two-light mullion basement windows below the plinth, followed by three mullion windows above, the one by the door having four lights, and the two to the east having three lights each, all with moulded cornices. A buttress constructed of ironstone has been added to the west of the door, with a relieving arch above. A garage door has been inserted into a former mullion window, retaining its original moulded cornice. Above the garage door are four three-light mullion windows with moulded cornices and a single-light window between the two western windows. The west return has a similar irregular fenestration.

The interior contains a fine contemporary staircase.
