Description
The cart shed at Swallow Grange, built in 1825 with minor alterations in the 20th century, is a two-storey structure featuring pale brick and pantile hipped roofs. The main front, facing southwest, has seven openings. The ground floor includes seven segment arched cart openings, which are now blocked and painted black, with the central archway having a slightly projecting brick surround. Above these, there are seven segment headed glazing bar windows, which are partly boarded. A central projecting pigeoncote tower features a semi-circular arch that contains three tiers of flight perches, with entrances to flight boxes located behind. Each side of the building has a single segment arched doorway. The rear facade mirrors the ground floor's segmental arches and has small windows above, although these are largely obscured by a late 20th-century lean-to shed.
