Description

The Hunt Kennels and House, built in 1810 by James Wyatt, is a significant structure located in Brocklesby Park. It is constructed of yellow brick with ashlar and brick dressings, featuring slate hipped roofs with lead dressings and a central apex stack. The building has a courtyard plan, with a main three-part front connected by single-storey blocks and raised square blocks at the rear corners.

The central block serves as a two-storey house with a three-bay front, complete with a plinth, a first-floor band, and a moulded cornice. The entrance features a central six-panelled door with a traceried fanlight, protected by a 19th-century planked wooden porch. This door is flanked by semi-circular headed glazing bar sash windows set in concentric headed recesses. The first floor has three small glazing bar sash windows with flat splayed brick arches.

On either side of the main block, there are two window bays; the right side has two square hinged lights, while the left features a segmental headed glazing bar sash with an additional small hinged light beyond it. The end blocks are raised and rusticated, adorned with brick bands and central blind arches, and topped with cornices.

Behind the main front, there are three hound lodges with yards and a rear range currently used for food preparation. The north-east angle tower was originally intended for kennel servants' accommodation. In front of the kennels, continuous railings are set on a low stone plinth.
