Description
24 and 28 High Street are a pair of cottages dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone rubble and feature a yellow pantile roof with a single ridge and two gable red brick stacks. The cottages are single storey with attics and have an irregular five-bay front. The entrance is off-centre and consists of a half-glazed door flanked by a single three-light plain casement. To the right, there is a two-light glazing bar casement and a canted bay window with fixed glazing bar lights topped by a hipped lead roof. On the first floor, there is a pair of sliding glazing bar sashes. Above the door, there is a panel bearing the letter "A" for Ancaster, topped with a coronet.
