Description
33 St Martin's is a late 17th century building that served as a model for Nos 31 and 32. It has two storeys and attics, constructed from ashlar with old stone slates. The façade features five windows with moulded stone surrounds and acanthus keystones, fitted with double-hung sashes in plain reveals and glazing bars. A moulded band runs between the storeys, and a moulded capping on the plinth acts as a lintel for four vernacular basement windows with mullions from the 17th century. The building's side quoins are adorned with Corinthian and Ionic pilasters. There are three cambered dormers and a heavy wooden dentil eaves cornice. Two moulded stone chimney stacks are present. The central door is flanked by panelled pilasters, moulded brackets, and a cornice, with a plain keystone above. It is accessed by three steps and features a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars over the plain door, along with iron foot scrapers. Nos 18 to 38 and the Church of St Martin form a group with this building.
