Description
Number 43, St Martin's is a 17th-century building that stands two storeys high with attics, constructed from ashlar stone. It features three cambered dormers and two stone chimney stacks. The façade includes five double-hung sash windows, each with glazing bars, while the central window is set in a moulded stone surround. There is a small cornice and a blocking course at the top, along with a stone band between the storeys and a plinth at the base. The central entrance consists of a door with six fielded panels, which is recessed beneath a rectangular glazed fanlight and accessed by two steps. The doorcase is designed in the Roman Doric style and has a moulded cornice. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 39 to 43, the garden wall to No 43, No 44, the wall to No 44, Nos 45 to 70, and the garden wall to Nos 68 and 69, along with the Burghley Almshouses.
