Description

The screen and gateway to the west courtyard at Belton House is an early 18th-century structure that was moved in the late 19th century, likely designed by John Warren, although it has also been attributed to Thomas Robinson. It is constructed from wrought iron and ashlar stone. The central gateway features openwork piers topped with finials, an elegantly shaped overthrow, and double gates. On either side of the gateway, there are railings with scrollwork tops and intermediate piers, all set on an ashlar plinth with slab coping.
