Description

The garden walls and adjoining outbuildings located south and east of North Lodge date from the early 18th century and around 1771. They are constructed from coursed squared stone and brick, featuring both moulded and plain slab copings. The walls stand approximately 2 meters high and extend about 250 meters in length. They line the east side of Belton House Drive, turning southeast before reaching the stable block, and then continue east and south to border the former estate yard. At the southern end, adjacent to Belton House, there is a curved section that includes an attached toilet block. The front wall is coped and has three doorways, one of which is blocked, with Latin inscriptions on the lintels. This structure is likely associated with John Langwith, who fitted it out for the first Baron Brownlow.
