Description
The Waiting Room, located at 1671 Sheep Market, is a Grade II listed building dating from the mid-17th century. It features a stone front with two storeys and attics, topped by a stone slate roof. The structure has two three-storey gabled bays; the right bay is rectangular while the left is canted. Each bay contains a six-light mullioned window on both the ground and first floors, along with a two-light window in each gable. A date stone marked 1661 is found in the right-hand gable, and another stone from 1937 is in the left-hand gable. The front of the building was originally part of the Stamford Mercury office on the High Street and was moved to its current location in 1937. The properties in Sheep Market create a cohesive visual group.
