Description
This is an early 18th-century cottage that has been altered in the mid-19th century and the 20th century. The original core is a 4-bay mud and stud structure, with colourwashed rubble and brickwork. The roof is thatched, with some pantiles, and originally had a gable stack, which was later converted to a ridge stack with an eastern extension.
The cottage now comprises three distinct sections. The original core has a doorway on the left with a wooden lintel and plank door, flanked by two 3-light sliding sash windows with wooden lintels. A post is visible to the left. A doorway on the right also has a plank door and a continuous wooden lintel running over a small fixed glazing bar window. An eyebrow dormer window features a 2-light casement. To the west, a mid-19th century brick extension has a large, multi-paned sash window with a wooden lintel. To the east, a taller, 2-storey rubble extension, dating back to the 19th century, has a 2-light casement window with a wooden lintel to the right and two 20th-century casement windows above.
