Description

The wall and gate lodges to The Grange are structures from the mid 17th century to the 18th century. They are built from limestone and ironstone rubble, featuring plain tiles and pantiles. The design includes two round lodges with conical plain tile roofs that flank the gateway, each having a single doorway facing east. Both doorways have wooden lintels, with the west lodge featuring a plank door. The low walls are topped with ashlar coping and slope down on each side to a 20th-century gateway, which is marked by wooden posts with ball finials and raking plank gates. A high wall, also coped with tiles, extends eastward from the eastern lodge, running along the entire length of The Grange's northern boundary.
