Description

This is a house, dating from around 1800, situated on the north side of Morton High Street. The construction consists of roughly-laid ironstone rubble with limestone ashlar detailing. The roof is slate, hipped in shape, concealed behind a high parapet, with a tall brick ridge and rear chimney stacks.

The two-story, three-bay front has a central bay that projects slightly and is emphasised with plain ashlar bands. A continuous ashlar band runs along the first floor, and the eaves are similarly detailed, finishing with an ashlar-coped parapet. The central doorway features a semi-circular head, an ashlar surround with moulded bases and a scrolled keystone, a traceried fanlight, and a partially-glazed door. Flanking the doorway on the ground floor are single sash windows with glazing bars, and three similar sash windows are above them. All windows are set within ashlar surrounds and have raised keystones. The pediment above the central bay is oval in shape, containing foliage and a coat of arms.
