Description

Holly House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and a mid-19th century addition. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a gabled and hipped slate roof with brick ridge and gable stacks. The building has a stone plinth and quoins, and it is two storeys high with a three-window range arranged in a 1:2 pattern, forming a T-plan.

The windows primarily have 17th-century stone surrounds, with the ground floor windows being slightly larger and featuring cornices. Most windows have been reglazed, with some incorporating Gothick glazing bars. The street front, facing south, has a set-back wing on the right with a 12-pane sash window, flanked on the left by a single light Gothick sash. Beneath a common cornice, there is an off-centre ashlar Tudor arched doorway with a panelled door, flanked on the right by a two-light Gothick sash and on the left by a similar single sash.

To the left, there is a wing with a four-light window on each floor, featuring chamfered stone mullions. In the return angle, there is a two-light casement and below it, a double sash, both with Gothick glazing bars. The left return has a central five-light window with chamfered stone mullions on the ground floor, flanked on the right by a blocked single light 17th-century window and on the left, with various 19th-century windows above.
