Description
The Malting House is a house dating from the early 17th century, with a 19th-century addition and late 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed stone that is rendered and painted, featuring ashlar dressings and a steeply pitched pantile roof with a central brick ridge stack. The building has a rendered plinth and a coped gable facing the street, supported by kneelers.
It is two storeys tall, plus garrets, and has a two-window range. The gable facing the street includes a three-light stone mullioned window with a cornice on the first floor and garret, while the garret window is blank. Below this, there is a similar four-light window. The right corner of the building has a corbelled first floor.
On the left side, there are two 20th-century two-light casements, and below them, a four-light window and a three-light window with chamfered stone mullions. The right side features a two-storey lean-to addition with a two-light casement, and below it, there is a door with a pantiled hood on brackets, which has been inserted into a stone window surround. All these features are from the late 20th century.
