Description
The obelisk, located approximately 250 metres west north west of Stoke Rochford Hall, was built in 1847, likely by William Burn. It is constructed from ashlar, sandstone, and limestone. The obelisk features a square base with a scrolled plinth and cornice, standing on two deep steps. On the east side, there is a square slate panel surrounded by moulded ashlar, which commemorates its construction by Charles Turnor, Prebendary of Lincoln, in honour of Sir Isaac Newton, who was born nearby at Woolsthorpe Manor.
