Description
No 14 St Mary's Street is a building dating from 1671, located on the north side of St Mary's Street. It is identical to No 13, which is on the opposite corner, and was built in the first half of the 19th century. The building has three storeys and is constructed from Wittering Pendle stone, featuring stone quoins. It has a moulded eaves cornice and a moulded band between the first and second floors. The window arrangement is in a 2-1-2 pattern, curved to fit the site. The top floor windows are set in moulded stone surrounds and have double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The first floor windows feature moulded shouldered architraves with hoods supported by brackets. The shop front is notable for its good design, lacking glazing bars, and includes Greek Ionic columns, an anthemion frieze, and a moulded cornice. There is a modern door. Nos 2 to 26 St Mary's Street form a group with this building.
