Description
31 and 32 St Mary's Street are early 19th-century buildings located at the corner of St Mary's Hill. They are three storeys high and constructed from coursed nibble stone, topped with a hipped old slate roof at the corner. The buildings feature rusticated quoins and a moulded eaves cornice.
The ground floor has 19th-century shop fronts, with No 31 displaying cherubs that support a dentil cornice and a stone stall riser. No 32 has a shop front with two windows and plain pilasters, along with rendered stall risers. No 31 also has two windows facing St Mary's Hill, two windows at the corner, and five windows along St Mary's Street, one of which is blocked. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set within ashlar rusticated architraves, and a continuous band runs along the cills. There is one 19th-century bay window on the first floor and stone stacks on the roof.
These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 33 to 39 and 12 to 16 St Mary's Hill.
