Description
This structure consists of three gatepiers, a wall, railings, and a lodge, located at the southeast entrance, 550 meters south-southeast of Stoke Rochford Hall. Built in 1834 by Cornelius Sherbourne for Sir Christopher Turnor, the building is made of ashlar stone with slate roofs featuring raised coped gables and kneelers. It has a cross-plan layout and is a single storey with attics, presenting a three-bay front. The central entrance features a half-glazed door flanked by two-light mullioned windows. Above the door, a gabled parvise is supported by Tuscan columns, beneath a 20th-century two-light window. A rectangular sunk panel above the door displays the date 1834 and the initials CT for Christopher Turnor, topped with a pinnacled gable. On the entrance side, there is a triple window with a shield of arms above it. The three gate piers are square, featuring moulded cornices and topped with ball finials. The gate pier closest to the lodge is connected to it by wrought iron railings with curling pointed terminals. The flanking walls are made of squared limestone rubble, attached to the gate piers and lodge, with gabled stone coping that ends in square ashlar piers with plinths and coping.
