Description

The Malthouse, built in the mid-19th century, is a two-storey brick structure with a slate roof and an internal cast iron frame. It features a symmetrical front with nine bays and an added wing under a hipped roof attached to the left-hand gable end of the main range. The central three bays are highlighted by strip plasters and topped with a pedimented gable that has three corbelled brick courses serving as a cornice and pediment verge, along with a loading door in the pediment.

On the ground floor, there is a central arched doorway with panelled doors, flanked by similar doors and doorways in the three bays on either side. The arches are stuccoed. On the first floor, there are loading doors in the first bay on either side of the central three bays, with the left door featuring a bracketed hood. All bays on both floors and the basement have square single sash windows protected by vertical bars, set in stone cills and topped with stuccoed flat arch hoods.

At both ends of the front and on the right-hand gable wall, there are full-height buttresses with a slight projection, featuring double order recessed panels capped with brick dentil cornices and parapets. The rear of the building has eight windows similar to those on the front, located on both floors.
