Description
The sundial, located 150 metres north of Belton House, dates from around 1690 and was created by CG Cibber. It features a figure of Time made from Portland stone, seated on a globe and supporting a baluster column with the help of a cherub. The brass dial is inscribed and signed by Thomas Wright, dated 1725. The sundial is set on a modified octagonal sandstone base with three steps. It may have been commissioned by Sir John Brownlow, the builder of Belton House. This sundial is situated within Belton Park, which is listed on the Gardens Register at grade I.
