Description
No. 3 Barn Hill is a mid-18th century house that stands two storeys tall, with an attic and basement, featuring a tall and narrow design. The building is cement rendered, with brick on the sides. It has a high mansard roof that includes one dormer with glazing bars. The wood eaves cornice is decorated with narrow, widely spaced plain wood dentils. A curved bow extends through two storeys, showcasing three hung sash windows on each level, along with a two-light basement window. Access to the entrance door is via six stone steps leading to an attractive porch made of wood treillage in the Chinese style, topped with a wide-eaved pointed lead hood. This small house possesses significant character. It is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 6 Barn Hill, Barn Hill House, and the wall and gatepiers with a gazebo in the garden of Barn Hill House.
