Description
No. 53 High Street is a cottage dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is made of pantiles and has two brick gable stacks. The building is two stories high with a three-bay front. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door, which is flanked by two modern three-light casement windows. The door and window openings have flat lintels with keystones, and the lintels connect to form an ashlar band. On the first floor, there is a central two-light window flanked by similar windows, which have likely been lowered. Inside, the cottage retains a chamfered beam with run-out stops.
