Description
Round House Farm is a former folly that has been converted into a farmhouse, and it dates from the late 18th century. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a facetted pantile roof with a central stone chimney. It has an octagonal plan and is a single storey with attics, with single bays on each side.
The sides of the building include three cross mullioned glazing bar windows with flat arches, as well as two panelled doors topped with wooden lintels. One dormer remains, which originally had a two-light sliding glazing bar sash and rendered cheeks. Inside, the property retains planked doors, a cast iron fire range set in a wooden surround with a segmental head and a mantleshelf above. There is also a turning stair with a facetted newel and a sunken dairy. The windows are fitted with panelled shutters. It is thought that the building was possibly designed as a landscape ornament for the Earls of Ancaster.
