Description

Leigh Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with a refacing completed in 1809 and some minor alterations in the 20th century. The building features ashlar and some coursed rubble at the base, with a Collyweston slate roof and raised stone coped gables. It has a single ridge and two gable ashlar stacks. The front is two storeys high and consists of five bays, with an off-centre 20th-century door flanked by a single three-light casement window. To the right, there is a two-light casement window in the blocking of an earlier door, followed by another three-light casement window. On the first floor, there are three three-light casement windows, and above the door is a datestone inscribed "AA 1809". All openings feature ashlar lintels with keystones. Inside, the right-hand room retains an inglenook fireplace, along with a chamfered girder and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
